It opens with a screening of “The World Is Funny,” a quirky tale of hardship and hope that’s received 15 award nominations from the Israeli Film Academy. Three of the films explore the Israel-Palestine conflict, including the award-winning “A Bottle in the Gaza Sea,” in which a young woman in Jerusalem who is troubled by a bomb attack carries on a pen pal friendship with a young Palestinian.
